Kiowa Facts

The Kiowa women wore elk skin and elk tooth dresses.  The Kiowa men wore ermine and otter skin clothing and sometimes did not wear shirts.  The Kiowa wore moccasins too.

The Kiowa ate deer and Buffalo which was also useful for getting hides.

The Kiowa taught their children English at 1897 because they couldn't understand Americans.

The Kiowa used bows, daggers, tomehawks and stuffed bird tokens.

The Kiowa spoke a language called Kiowa Tanoan.

The Kiowa did sun dances for ceremonies, and they might have danced at night for ceremonies.

The Kiowa used food and leather for money.So they can have things they couldn't get or grow.

Lived in cone shaped houses called teepees.  They used buffalo hide and with elk hide to make the teepees.

The Kiowa moved from Montana to the Rocky Mountains then were put on a reservation in Oklahoma.
