 SEPTEMBER 2013 Theme: Rememberance

Check out this poem by Michaela C. about 911!

The people in the towers died,

Some people fell and there they lied.

The others cried in fear and dread.

In the paper they had read,

About the 3,000 that were dead.

But that was many years ago,

That those towers up they did blow.

The towers are now in the dumps,

Thanks to those rotten terrorist chumps.

Check out this clip of Mr. Steen as he reads one of his works on the emotional subject of  911!

Thanks for sharing with us, Mr. Steen!

 NOVEMBER 2013 Theme: Thanksgiving

The Harvest Moon

  by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

It is the Harvest Moon! On gilded vanes
And roofs of villages, on woodland crests
And their aerial neighborhoods of nests
  Deserted, on the curtained window-panes
Of rooms where children sleep, on country lanes
And harvest-fields, its mystic splendor rests!
Gone are the birds that were our summer guests,
With the last sheaves return the laboring wains!
All things are symbols: the external shows
Of Nature have their image in the mind,
  As flowers and fruits and falling of the leaves;
The song-birds leave us at the summer's close,
Only the empty nests are left behind,
And pipings of the quail among the sheaves.

Blessings

By: Brad Grant  - Nov. 2013

Be still my soul and take account,

Of the blessings God has given,

Be they born of earth below,

Or angel sent from Heaven.

First among the gifts I’d suppose,

Good health in body and mind,

What greater riches has a man,

What greater treasure could one find?

And what of family, friends and kin?

What of wife and daughters two?

A blessing great they are for sure,

A miracle through and through.

I have a job, an occupation,

That brings me joy each day,

Teaching children, loving learning,

No greater blessing I would say.

My nation is a blessed place,

Under God we pledge our worth,

We may have lost our way a bit,

But it’s still the best on earth,

Be still my soul and take account,

Give thanks to God above,

For all the blessings He has given,

None greater than His love.

Parents

A Thanksgiving Poem by: Marisa L.

They are with us everyday

Listen to what we have to say

Without parents we could all die

There on the couch is where we would lie

No parents means no knowledge

No knowledge means no college.

So stop what your doing

Give your parents a hug

and let them call you their "little love bug"

  Jubilation

                                                                 Glory to God,

                                                  That's what the angels sang,

Peace on Earth, good will to men!

                                                  Words sung with joy,

                                                  Echoed in the pastures,

We sing them in our choirs,

                                                  In heart-felt imitation,

                                                  Of those heavenly hosts,

                                                  In their jubilation.

                                                  Their song erupting,

                                                  Their purpose clear,

                                                  Peace on Earth,

                                                  For God draws near!

A child is born that He may die,

                                                  And all man live,

Glory to God in the highest!
