Transitioning


MONDAY 

 

Ask the students “What is your definition of transitioning​?”

 

Discuss the students definitions before showing them the following ones. 

 

 DEFINITIONS FOR TRANSITIONING

 

Transitioning  (Transition)   Please discuss each definition.

 

1. movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., transition

2. a period during which such change takes place.

3. a modulation music.  a modulating passage from one part of a musical composition to another

 

 

Make a list of the students examples of transitioning.   Keep this list for Tuesday's activity.

 

EXAMPLES:  Civilian to Military

          Music notes etc.

          Company owners

          Childhood to Adulthood

          Etc.

 

 

TUESDAY

 

From the list made on Monday pull out the ones that apply to school transitioning.

Students might find more to add at this time. 

 

EXAMPLES:  Class to class

      Electives back to class

   etc.

 

Use this list for the Wednesday activity.

 

 

 

WEDNESDAY

 

 

What does transitioning look like from the list made for school days.

 

How should it be handled?

EXAMPLES:  Why does walking in a straight line  help with transitioning from location to location?

 

 

THURSDAY

 

What is your concerns about transitioning to the next grade level.

 

What is your expectations?

 

Discuss these questions in great detail, let the students release their fears and find the information they need to have a successful next school year.
